After a few beers ¦¬) and a scan of some intresting uploading/singlarity articles I was thinking that if the future is going to be as predicted then I'm just a child in mental (physical as well) terms. I was recently thinking about my youth and how much of a changed self I am now. But if I were to knew I'd have a vast lifespan and have a vast range of options open to me then my current self would be vastly enriched.
Its odd to think about myself in those terms, it would certainly have profound effect on the human condition. You would never think about slowing down, the aging process. Planning your life would be far less stress free and I wounder what effects this would have on society, for example if you were a woman you needn't worry about time ticking away before you were unable to have a child.
Have a few beers (your particular poison) help me out with this passage of thought

Re: We are all children
Tue, April 5, 2005 - 7:40 AMI have been thinking almost the exact thing!
I am in my mid-40s, and for almost the last 20 or so, my life has taken a bit of a safe, career-oriented path because of the responsibility of raising a family. But I've realized that I will have plenty of time later to get back into my own personal forms of expression, take risks and experiment. Now I can relax and enjoy the kids. It's a great outlook.
